At present, an active Western Disturbance is forecast to approach Western Himalayas, which will induce a Cyclonic Circulation over West Rajasthan. A trough from this system will extend up to Uttar Pradesh. This system will bring along scattered rains over West Uttar Pradesh on March 2. Places like that of Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow and Kanpur are likely to get affected.
On March 3, some parts of East UP will also start receiving scattered rains. But this time, spread and intensity of rains will be more over Western parts in comparison to the Eastern parts such as Allahabad, Varanasi, Sultanpur and Raebareli.
These light rains are expected to continue over Central and East UP on March 4 and 5 as well.
By the evening of March 5, weather will clear up and temperatures will rise. This rise in temperatures will finally mark the start of Summers in UP.
This Winter Season most parts of Indo-Gangetic plains have received good rainfall. Uttar Pradesh is one of these states. At present, East Uttar Pradesh is surplus by 16% and West Uttar Pradesh is surplus by 27%.
The state usually gets rain due to the induced Cyclonic Circulation and East-west troughs which develops in the wake of active Western Disturbances. As the Cyclonic Circulations tend to travel from West to East therefore West Uttar Pradesh receives more rain in comparison to East Uttar Pradesh.
