Pachmarhi, popularly known as ‘Satpura ki Rani’ or ‘Queen of Satpura’ is among the famous destinations that tourists prefer in order to escape heat during summers.
Situated at 1100 m above the sea level, the beautiful hill station is located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Amidst the Satpura range, this place remains embellished by nature and serenity and provides a perfect weekend gateway for travellers who want to escape the noisy cities.
The most popular hill station in Madhya Pradesh was discovered in 1857 by Captain James Forsyth. The ancient history reveals that the Pandava brothers visited Pachmarhi during their exile. The town also treasures ancient caves of Buddha.
This beautiful region in the hills is a home to pious waterfalls including ‘Apsara Vihar’ and the very famous ‘Bee Fall’. Wildlife photographers can capture beautiful picture of leopards and Indian bison in Satpura National Park. The five dwellings of Pandav Caves are cut out of sandstone on a hill.
Pachmarhi observes tourists flocking from different corners of the world throughout the year. However, October to June is considered as the best time. The summers are pleasant, while the Monsoons months observe moderate showers. However, the winters are slightly harsh with mercury dropping as low as 4℃. Visiting this place during Bastar Dusshera and Navratri celebrations adds on to the excitement and serenity.

Summers in Pachmarhi (March to June)
Summer season is the best time to visit Pachmarhi with mercury settling between 22℃ and 35℃. Days are warm, followed by pleasant nights. Humidity levels are low and gentle breeze along with occasional showers make the place look beauty beyond imagination.
Monsoon in Pachmarhi (July to September)
Monsoon in Pachmarhi is pleasant, with temperatures oscillating between 20℃ and 28℃. Mist, fog and clouds take over the region during this period. As the place is characterised by waterfalls and natural reserves, Monsoon makes a good time to visit this beauty.
Winters in Pachmarhi (October to February)
October to February are the winter months for Pachmarhi. Although mercury can drop as low as 4℃, most people enjoy the cold weather, with flaunting their winter outfits and enjoying their favourite coffee. Several festivals like Diwali, Navratri, Pachmarhi Utsava, Christmas and New Year add to the beauty of the winter season here.
The region also organises a six day festival every December, known as ‘Pachmarhi Utsava’. The festival is characterised by artistic exhibitions, yummy food stalls and brilliant cultural performances.
How to reach Pachmarhi?
Pipariya, about 47 km away is the nearest railway station, across Jabalpur rail line, located on the Howrah- Mumbai track. Bhopal is the main railway station, approximately 200 km from Pachmarhi.
