Turning up for regular activities during daytime could now be a little discomforting for Delhiites as the hot and dry weather that is being experienced in the city for the last few days is expected to prevail. It means that we are heading for a longer spell of hot weather, compared to what we have witnessed in April till now. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, after showing a rising trend since Sunday, temperatures in Delhi are expected to rise further and intensify the summer heat in Delhi as there is no weather system expected to affect the national capital region in terms of rain and clouds.
The Safdarjung Observatory in Delhi recorded 35.8°C as the maximum temperature on Monday, while the Palam Observatory saw the temperature settle a couple of notches higher at 37.3°C. And going by the latest weather update, the maximum temperature may hover around 37°C for the next couple of days.
Maximums have not yet crossed 38.5°C, the highest recorded on 6th April. But an extended forecast by Skymet Meteorology Division indicates that maximums in Delhi could even touch 40°C by the end of the month as consistent surface heating in the last few days of April will warm up the winds to boost the temperature.
Early morning hours in Delhi could start becoming a little warm now as minimum temperatures are also expected to rise and settle in the lower twenties as opposed to late teens last week. On Tuesday morning, Delhi recorded 20.4°C as the minimum temperature, almost two notches higher than Monday.
