Summer heat intensifies as mercury soars in Telangana, Andhra

Even with a trough running over most parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the region witnessed dry weather conditions for a long period of time. This prolonged period of dry weather has led to increase of day and night temperatures.

In the last few days, the mercury soared high enough that the temperatures registered were above normal. Particularly, coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has seen mercury soaring in higher 30°Cs. Minimum temperatures has seen a rise by 2-4°C in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also observed temperatures reaching in mid-30°Cs.

In the span of 24 hours from 08:30am on Sunday, Vijayawada has recorded maximum temperature of 38.3°C, Tuni 39.0°C, Ongole 36.5°C, Vishakhapatnam 35.8°C.

Even though the recent rain activity has made the minimums fall down considerably over Telangana but the rise in temperatures are expected over the entire region of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

With high humidity over the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and mercury soaring high, locals are advised to stay hydrated for long hours. Such weather conditions are ideal for sun strokes. In the days to come temperatures that are hovering in the higher 30°Cs mark will cross 40 degrees, in places of both the states.
