Pleasant weather conditions seem to be a bygone past now in the dream city of Mumbai. By end of February, weather conditions turned from warm to hot and now it has become hotter. Temperatures in high-thirties, high humidity levels are making matters even worse.
Maximum temperatures have been rising since last weekend and reached 35.6°C on Tuesday. Minimum temperature is also shooting up and settled at 22.2°C on Wednesday morning. Light rain on March 14 could bring temporary respite from the heat and temperatures could come down to low-thirties.
March Weather in Mumbai
All said and done, March is definitely considered to be one of the hottest months in Mumbai. The all-time high maximum temperature this month is 41.3°C, recorded on March 17, 2011. Day temperature has crossed 40°C on three occasions and have been invariably in high-thirties.
Wind patterns changing
The rise in temperatures coincide with change in wind patterns in Mumbai this month. Along with land and sea breeze, cool winds from North India builds the chill factor with temperatures coming down to even 13-14°C, from December to February. Maximums also do not rise beyond 25°C.
Winds patterns change by March and land breeze becomes a rare event. Sea breeze remains the only reliving factor, which sets in by late afternoon hours.
