Successive Monsoon systems developing in Bay of Bengal

August 14, 2016 9:04 AM |

Monsoon in India Southwest Monsoon seems to have taken a backseat after a long time. In fact, we could say that it has become subdued across most parts of the country for the first time this Monsoon season.

The depression lying over East India has now weakened into a low pressure area. It can now be seen over Jharkhand and adjoining Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It will give good rains over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh for the time being. Gradually, the rain belt will shift over western parts of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rains are not expected but fairly widespread one or two good spells of raionfall will be observed over East India.

Another low pressure area is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal after 48 hours. Thus, we could say that successive weather systems are developing in the Bay.

The prevailing weather system lingered on for a long time and gradually intensified into a depression. In wake of this system, East India received prolonged showers. Now, the system has weakened considerably.

The states of Jharkhand and West Bengal enjoyed some good showers during the past three to four days. In fact, these areas have also recorded three digit rains as well.

We have to wait and watch the course of action taken by the fresh low pressure area. Skymet Weather will keep tacking its path and development.
