The West Coast of India has been witnessing rain and thundershowers during the month of August, but the intensity of these showers remained on the lower side. Only light to moderate rains were observed and heavy spells remained absent from the region.

In the last 24 hours as well, most parts of the region has recorded subdued rain activity. During the similar time frame, North Coastal Maharashtra have received heavy to very heavy rainfall. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which was over North Maharashtra Coast.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Mumbai recorded 54 mm of rainfall, followed by Harnai 44 mm, Mahabaleshwar 25 mm, Alibag 21 mm, Dahanu 6 mm, Madikeri 3 mm and Vengurla 1 mm of rains.

As this cyclonic circulation has weakened, thus Monsoon will go subdued again over most parts of Konkan and Goa and Kerala.
However, a cyclonic circulation is still persisting over Lakshadweep region. In wake of this, light to moderate rains are possible at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and adjoining parts of Kerala Coast. Heavy to very heavy rains are ruled out for the time being over the entire West Coast region.
