Delhi has been witnessing on and off showers along with only one or two good spells of rains from past 3-4 days.
In fact, in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Safdarjung observatory, Delhi has recorded exceptional showers of 2.6 mm. While during the similar time frame, Palam observatory of the National capital has recorded 4.2 mm of rains.
The average normal rainfall for Delhi stands at 232.5 mm rainfall. While, till August 15, 08:30 am, Safdarjung observatory has witnessed a total of 74.1 mm rains in the month of August. On the contrary, Palam observatory witnessed 103.2 mm good spells.
At present, Delhi has received 4 percent more rains than its normal. But, the National Capital is still far lagging than its average monthly rainfall.
The reason for these rainfall is attributed to the axis of Monsoon trough which is moving north of Delhi. Moreover, Westerly winds also prevail over Delhi region. This would result in offering mainly pleasant mornings along with warmer afternoons.
However, few short spells over the region cannot be ruled out as well. These may occur over a few parts of Delhi. Temperatures are also expected to rise and partly cloudy sky is also likely over the region. Moreover, there could be a marginal reduction in humidity over the area.
