After much anticipation, Southwest Monsoon finally reached the state of Uttar Pradesh, Yesterday. Despite the arrival, Monsoon rains remained on the lower side over many parts of the state, in the last 24 hours.
According to Skymet Weather, the state of Uttar Pradesh has already seen delayed Monsoon arrival and now also we do not expect any vigorous or active Monsoon rains to lash the state. However, light to moderate rains will occur in the eastern and central parts of the state, today. Moreover, we expect Monsoon to remain subdued over the state of Uttar Pradesh until June end.
By June 24 or 25, the spread and cover of rains will extend up to the western parts of the state and the state entirely will witness scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells, during this period. These activities are expected to continue until June 26. Thereafter, rains will taper over the region and weather will go completely dry, in the absence of any significant system.
Places like Baghpat, Bareilly, Badaun, Agra, Mathura, Moradabad, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Meerut, Hapur, Saharanpur, Rampur, Shahjahanpur, Etah, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Shamli, and Bijnor would observe light rains with some moderate spells during the next few days.
The reason for these rains can be attributed to the easterly winds which would be blowing from the Bay of Bengal. Moreover, a Trough will extend from West Uttar Pradesh up to the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Further, a good spell of rain is expected around the first week of July, wherein rains will occur with increased intensity over the eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh. Gradually, these good rains would cover the entire state and active Monsoon would set in.
