Hilly areas of Jammu & Kashmir like Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Leh continued to witness sub-zero temperatures at night. The minimum temperature in Gulmarg was recorded at -3.4 degrees on Monday while Pahalgam recorded -2 degrees. Leh registered a minimum of -7.1 degrees yesterday.

Nights will remain freezing in these areas as the next spells of snowfall and rain are expected from the November 15. A fresh Western Disturbance may begin to take affect on the region by this time.

No change in temperatures seen in north India

Temperatures in north India are unlikely to witness any major fall or gain in the next two days. Day temperatures will remain below normal in most parts of north India even though there is clear sunshine. This is because cool northwesterly winds are not letting the warmth remain on the surface.

Northerly winds have led to a fall in night temperatures recorded at Palam Observatory in Delhi. It recorded a minimum of 12.8 degrees on Monday after 14 degrees on Sunday. Night temperatures in Delhi as well as northwest plains will remain unchanged in the next two days.

Day temperatures are low by 5 to 7 degrees in Rajasthan and 2 to 4 degrees in other parts of northwest plains over Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh. Even the minimum are below the normal here.
