Strong winds, dust storm likely in Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner and Churu today

Dust storm in Rajasthan

A Cyclonic Circulation persists over Southcentral Pakistan and adjoining West Rajasthan. The upper air system is extending up to 1.5 km. The Western Disturbance as an upper air system over Jammu and Kashmir persists. Also, the winds are likely to change to north easterlies tomorrow onward over Rajasthan. As the Cyclonic storm, Maha is likely to strengthen further, the easterly and southeasterly flow of winds is expected to prevail over the southern parts of Rajasthan.

Yesterday evening, moderate showers with thunderstorm activity and squally winds were observed over Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Pilani, Churu, and some parts of Barmer, Sikar, Ajmer. In the past 24 hours, Jaisalmer recorded 26 mm of rain with isolated hailstorm. Squally winds were also seen in parts of North Rajasthan.

Today also we expect rain and thundershower activities mainly over south and southeastern parts associated with strong gusty winds and dust storm in parts. Bikaner, Phalodi, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Ajmer are likely to witness strong winds associated with dust storm activities today.

The rainfall activity is likely to decrease tomorrow as the northerly/ northwesterly will prevail over the extreme northern parts and will gradually change the wind direction to northeasterly. However, the southern parts like Jalore, Udaipur, Kota, Bhilwara will continue to receive light rain and thundershower activities. Dry weather is likely to make a comeback over the state around November 4.

Another spell of rain and thundershower activity is expected between November 6 to 8 and the state will once again witness rainfall activities when Cyclone Maha is likely to recurve.
