Srinagar records the lowest minimum since 15th January

Cold wave conditions continue for the fourth consecutive day in several parts of North and East India. The winter chill persists and we are far off from bidding good bye to the winter in India. People residing in the hilly regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are still experiencing the feeling of being in the thick of winters. Srinagar recorded the lowest minimum of (-4°C) since 15th of January. Leh also recorded a low of (-15°C) on Thursday morning. Himachal Pradesh is not far behind with Kullu being 3 degrees below normal at 0.2°C. Night temperature in Keylong is also 5 degrees below the normal average at (-15°C).

Night temperatures are still below normal in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Today morning, Kanpur and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh were both 7°C below normal at 2.9°C and 3°C respectively. Minimums in parts of Punjab are also below normal with Amritsar recording 3°C on Thursday morning.

Delhi recorded a minimum of 5.6°C on Thursday which is below normal by almost 5°C. A fresh Western Disturbance over the western Himalayan region along with the cyclonic circulation off Saurashtra coast in the Arabian Sea is likely to bring light rain in Delhi and North India. Parts of East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada regions are also expected to receive rain by tomorrow evening.  The minimums are expected to rise by few notches across the rain bearing regions.
