Srinagar Receives First Snowfall Of Season, Cold Wave Coming Up Over North India

Western disturbance has paraded across the northern mountains on 29th and 30th Dec. The march of weather system concludes tonight, albeit with its remnant may even show up light weather activity in small pockets, tomorrow as well.
Srinagar, capital city of Jammu & Kashmir, witnessed season's first snowfall on Thursday, 29th Dec. Light snow and sleet continued till early morning on Friday and break thereafter, resulting sky obscured conditions. Higher reaches of Kashmir, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, the popular tourist resorts, received moderate snowfall. The weather conditions have since started improving. 
Plains and foothills of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh experienced light rain fall in the past 24hr. Amritsar, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Ambala, Karnal, Una, Sundernagar and Chandigarh recorded mild rainfall, last night. Clouds have started withering since morning and weather conditions are likely to improve. Partial sunshine is expected today and tomorrow, as well.  Few clouds are likely to appear again, tomorrow evening across plains of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, only to find  clearance on Sunday evening/night. Good weather conditions will last thereafter, for over one week. 
In the wake of western disturbance and broad clearance, the night temperatures will take a sharp dip, across the region. Dense fog also will make a come back over most places in the region. Northwesterly winds blowing down the mountain slopes will carry the chill down to the foothills and deep pockets of these states. Cold wave conditions are likely, anytime after 02nd Jan 2023, sweeping most parts of northern plains, including the national capital Delhi.
