After a brief respite, famous hill stations of Srinagar, Manali, and Shimla are all set to witness another spell of rain and snowfall this weekend. So, you need not get upset if you have missed the snowfall this season.
According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Western Himalayas, which is presently marked over Afghanistan and adjoining parts of Pakistan. The system is gradually moving in east direction towards Jammu and Kashmir.
At present, the region has already started witnessing cloudy sky that has increased the minimum temperatures significantly.
The Western Disturbance will start affecting the weather by the evening of February 3, wherein light rain and snow will commence initially over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh.
The intensity and spread of the weather activity will pick up pace by February 4. Weathermen predict moderate to heavy rain and snowfall to lash several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand. Few places could also record extremely heavy snowfall as well.
Hindu Shrine of Vaishno Devi will also record rain and snow on the weekend, due to which pilgrims may face some difficulties.
The approaching system will also lead to drop in day maximums, that will make the weather chilly and cold once again.
Meteorologists have also issued an avalanche alert during this. Also, several routes and highways may shutdown in wake of heavy snowfall.
