Srinagar, Kashmir witness fresh spell of rain; pleasant weather likelyIt is not only the plains of the country which are witnessing hot weather conditions as of now. The hilly states of India have also come under the grip of intense summer heat. So much so that several hill stations including Shimla, Srinagar and adjoining areas have been recording maximums at least five to six degrees above the normal levels.

However, rain gods have been kind enough to the residents of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. A fresh Western Disturbance has begun to affect the Western Himalayas and the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing thundershowers currently.

The weather system is currently over North Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. Due to this weather system, rainfall along with thundershowers are expected to continue over Srinagar for at least the next 24 hours.

Not only this, other parts of Jammu and Kashmir will also witness a few rainy spells. So much so that the possibility of light snowfall in the extreme higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir also cannot be ruled out.

After 24 hours, the system is expected to move away and the rainfall activity will take a backseat. Today and tomorrow, some relief from the ongoing heat will bring a pleasant smiles on the residents’ face. For those who are on a weekend trip to the hills, these rains will just be perfect and will only add to the scenic beauty of the heavenly Kashmir.
