The month of March seems to be fruitful for Madhya Pradesh in terms of rain. The state has been witnessing on and off light rain until now. Though these rains were not intense, but they were capable of bringing down the high maximums.

Now, a fresh spell of rains is approaching the state again. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, a trough has developed over central parts of the country. It is extending from Rajasthan to Madhya Pradesh. In wake of this weather system, clouds have already developed over parts of Southwest Madhya Pradesh such as Ratlam, Jhabua, Dhar, Khargone, and Barwani.

In fact, we expect scattered rains to commence over the above-mentioned districts by March 8. These rains are likely to last until March 9. Gradually, few other districts such as Narsingpur, Raisen, Damoh, Sagar, and Bhopal will also receive rainfall activity.

As per weathermen, these unseasonal rains are usually not favourable for crops as they are ready for harvesting. During this period of time, rains are usually accompanied with thundershower and squally winds. In fact, the probability of hailstorm also increases during this time of the year.

Thus, we can expect minor damage due to the probability of hailstorm, thundershower, and squally winds. Fortunately, these rains will be for a short duration and will not cover large areas. Therefore, crop damage will be limited.

Meanwhile, these rains would lead to a drop in day temperatures. Though it will be marginal one but it will give some relief from the soaring temperatures. However, as soon as rains abate, the maximums will rise once again.

Scattered rain and thundershower with light hailstorm are expected over Agar Malwa, Bhopal Damoh, Dewas, Dhar, Guna, Indore, Jabalpur, Jhabua, Katni, Mandsaur, Narsimhapur, Neemuch, Panna, Raisen, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Sagar, Sehore, Shajapur, Ujjain, Umaria & Vidisha in next 48 hours.
