Sporadic showers for Bengaluru ahead of pre-monsoon heat

Bengaluru, the silicon city of India will receive welcome showers between 19th & 21st February. Bengaluru has observed dry weather conditions for more than 40 days as the last rainy spell lashed the town and suburbs in the 1st week of January with a moderate spell of 19mm on the 07th January. The showers spread over the next 3 days will be light in nature and cumulative rainfall of Bengaluru is not likely to exceed 5mm. Most of the rain activity in Bengaluru will be experienced during late evening and night.

The month of January and February as such are the least rainiest months for Bengaluru with an average rainfall of 2 and 5mm respectively. The minimum temperature remains < 20°C and the maximum also hovers around 30°C or less. Pre Monsoon arrives in March with a significant rise in the mercury level to go beyond 22°C in the morning and occasionally touch 35°C marks in the afternoon even during 1st half of the month. Pleasant days of Bengaluru are nearly getting over for this season to pave way for 3 months long hot Pre-Monsoon. Monsoon rains during June to September retrieves the cordial and cheerful days again, occasionally bringing chill in the air. Expected rains for Bengaluru over next 2-3 days is a part of increased weather activity over southern states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Moist easterlies from the Bay of Bengal are strengthening and converging under the influence of weather system in the equatorial belt across Sri Lanka, Gulf of Mannar and Southwest Bay of Bengal. Total clearance of the weather activity from Bengaluru is expected for the region from 22nd February onward and hot conditions may prevail for rest of the days in February.
