The southern parts of the country tend to see reduced rainfall activity after the departure of Northeast Monsoon with January seeing very little rains. February sees some rainfall activity wherein March begins on a rainy note due to Pre Monsoon activities.

Presently, some rainfall activity has been going on over parts of Kerala as well as the southern half of the state of Tamil Nadu. These rains are attributed to the Cyclonic Circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Equatorial Indian Ocean.

These on and off rains are expected to be sporadic in nature and is expected for the next four to five days. These weather activities are possibly a precursor to the Pre Monsoon season, which will affect the region anytime soon.

March onward, Pre Monsoon activity does take over resulting in more frequent rain activities during this period.
