The mercury of National Capital has been jumping up and down on the trampoline in the past couple of days. While nights and early morning hours would require one to wear multiple layers of clothes; the afternoon hours feels like a warm April.
But such diurnal variation in mercury results has made way for an unlikely rise in pollution levels. Today morning, the pollution levels PM 2.5 and PM 10 over the Anand Vihar ISBT station in trans-Yamuna Delhi reached dangerously high levels which were off the charts.
With clear weather in place and light winds blowing over the city, rise in air pollution cannot be ruled out. This sudden rise in pollution levels can be attributed to the fact that Anand Vihar is a gateway to Delhi and the area is heavily commercialized. The place has an Inter-State Bus Terminal and Railway Station adjacent to each other with heavy industrial area nearby.

No other area of Delhi saw such high levels of pollution, but still the pollution levels were higher than the designated norm.

For the next few days, the temperatures are expected to go up a few more notches paving way for early summer conditions for the Delhiites. So no relief is expected from the upcoming hot weather.
