The ongoing spell of hot and dry weather is expected to carry on till Saturday with day temperatures likely to settle beyond mid-thirties. According to the latest weather update by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, winds coming to the region from the north direction are now getting warmer in the absence of a weather system and clear sky.
Therefore, the day temperature in Delhi could rise a couple of notches to record 35°C for the second time since last Sunday, when maximum touched 38°C, highest of the season till now. On Thursday, the maximum temperature recorded was 33.5°C.
However, there could be some relief from the heat as a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is currently moving towards Jammu & Kashmir and is expected to bring in a period of clouds and thunderstorm in the city by late Sunday evening. Skymet Satellite image locates the weather system at Latitude 35°N and Longitude 60°E. It will move east-northeastwards to reach over Jammu & Kashmir, possibly in the next 24 hours. Though, there will be change in wind conditions with some humidity arriving from the Bay of Bengal.
Nights in Delhi during the period of the Western Disturbance may be a little uncomfortable due to rise in humidity levels and minimums settling in the early twenties. The minimum temperature recorded Friday morning was 17°C.
