Southwest Monsoon 2018 has reached Indian mainland of Kerala on May 28 and now, it’s time for Karnataka to experience Monsoon rains.
As per Skymet Weather, conditions are favorable for the advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some parts of Central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Kerala and some parts of Coastal and South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru in the next 48 hours.
In fact, conditions have already becoming favourable for the arrival of Southwest Monsoon over Karnataka. The state, including Bengaluru, has been witnessing good pre-Monsoon rains ever since the beginning of May. On the past day also, many parts of coastal Karnataka recorded some rains.
As per Skymet Weather, the pre-Monsoon month of May has so far remained constructive for the city as Bengaluru. Till May 29, the state capital has recorded 229.7 mm of rains, which is more than double of its monthly mean of 107.4 mm.

Within the span of 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Monday, Karwar recorded 38.8 mm of rains, Mangaluru 37.5 mm, Madikeri 9.2 mm, Dharwad 6 mm, Honavar 5.4 mm, Agumbe 2.2 mm, Mysuru 2 mm, Mandya 0.2 mm and Gadag recorded some traces of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a well-marked low-pressure area is marked over southeast Arabian Sea off Karnataka and Kerala coast. In the wake of this, we expect the intensity of rains to increase over the coastal districts of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru may get to witness isolated light rain activities for the next two days. Thereafter, as Southwest Monsoon is almost at the city's doorstep, the intensity of these rains would increase over Bengaluru June 1 onwards.
