The withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon generally gets completed by October 15, which is not the situation right now. The withdrawal line still passes through Forbesganj, Ranchi, Raipur, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Veraval and parts of North Arabian Sea
However, the conditions look favourable for its withdrawal from some more parts of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and remaining parts of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. The withdrawal is also likely from some more parts of Odisha, West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka and Central parts of the Arabian Sea.
The Southwest Monsoon had commenced withdrawal on time but it got stagnated between September 8 and September 26. The condition is somewhat similar at the moment. For the last one week there is no change in the withdrawal line of the Southwest Monsoon.
In the month of October the Western end of the Southwest Monsoon travelled from West Uttar Pradesh to Bihar, while the eastern arm has travelled a minimal distance, barely covering Saurashtra.
The withdrawal got stagnated due to weather systems in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. But now the Arabian Sea system has moved away from the India coast and become insignificant. While the Bay of Bengal system is becoming less marked.
With this the Southwest Monsoon is likely to continue with its withdrawal, but it may linger for a while in Northeast India.
