South India is heading for spikes in rainfall during the next two days. Chennai, Vellore in Tamil Nadu and Nellore and Kuddappa in Andhra Pradesh will receive good rain with isolated heavy spells during this period. Rain is expected to increase as the cyclonic circulation in southwest Bay of Bengal has become a low pressure area that could further turn into a well marked weather system by tomorrow. It will move westward to affect the Tamil Nadu coast near Chennai and adjoining areas of Andhra Pradesh. Kerala and Karnataka will also receive rain.
Rain in east India will become scanty as the north south trough extending from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to north Jharkhand will become less marked. This will assist in withdrawal of monsoon from rest parts of east India during the next 48 hours. Southwesterly winds will continue to reach up to northeast to give sporadic rain at a few places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
