Vidarbha has been receiving light to moderate rain during the last 24 hours. In fact, good showers have been lashing almost entire Vidarbha region during this period. These rains have provided that much needed relief to the residents of the region.
Another good news is that Southwest Monsoon has finally made an onset Southwest Monsoon over eastern parts of Vidarbha. Now, as the rains will increase significantly over Marathwada and Vidarbha. Thus, Southwest Monsoon will cover some parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha in the next 48 hours.
The cyclonic circulation which was in west-central has moved inland and is currently over Odisha and adjoining Bay of Bengal. The system will gradually move towards Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha and rain intensity will increase significantly over Vidarbha and Marathwada.
Intensity of rains will be high on June 19 and 20 over these areas. Thereafter, with the westward movement of cyclonic circulation, rain will increase over Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa. However, light to moderate rain will continue over Vidarbha and Marathwada for at least next 3 to 4 days.
At present, Vidarbha is rain deficient by 57 percent and Marathwada is rain deficient by 31 percent. But, as good rains will occur over these regions, the deficit of rains will be narrowed down significantly. In fact, by the end of June, normal rainfall range can be expected over these sub divisions.
As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, Monsoon 2016 is expected to be above normal over many parts of Maharashtra including Vidarbha and Marathwada.
