Despite remaining completely dry during May and first week of June, weather in Pune has turned pleasant due to incessant rain since Sunday. Pre-Monsoon showers in the middle of the month and Monsoon rains in last three days together have exceeded the monthly average rainfall in the city by 75%, with few more days left to the end of this month.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, light to moderate rain and showers are expected throughout the day in Pune, bringing relief from hot weather witnessed during the past few weeks.
The average monthly rainfall for Pune stands at 116 mm and city has already received rainfall of 205 mm. With few more days left in June, Pune is expected to cross its monthly average rainfall with double the normal rainfall, just like Mumbai.

Pune received 60 mm of rainfall on Sunday and 44 mm of rainfall on Tuesday. Due to rain in past few days, temperatures also witnessed a dip that brought a huge relief to the people of Pune. The maximum temperature that was settling in higher 30s dropped to settle in higher 20s after the spell of good Monsoon rains.
Not only Pune but most parts of Maharashtra including Konkan, Vidarbha and central Maharashtra witnessed heavy rainfall activity in last 24 hours. While Pune recorded 40 mm rainfall, Nashik 30 mm and Mumbai recorded 53 mm rainfall on Tuesday.
According to Skymet, the deep depression in Arabian Sea that moved closer to the Gujarat coast is likely to give more Monsoon rains in Pune for another day or two. The off shore trough from the system extending upto Kerala is also infusing moisture to the system that is likely to enhance the rain activity in Pune.
