As far as West Bengal is concerned, Monsoon 2017 has arrived over some parts of Gangetic West Bengal as well as Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Areas including Kharagpur and Darjeeling will also now begin to witness Monsoon showers.

During the last few days, Kolkata was not witnessing good rains and only scattered showers were being recorded over the region. In fact, there were days when the city remained either dry or received traces of rainfall.

Currently, a depression which was in proximity of West Bengal has moved towards the Bangladesh region. Thus, rainfall activity will not be as intense due to reduction in moisture incursion.

However, light rainfall activity is expected to continue over the City of Joy. Also, rainfall intensity is expected to increase over Kolkata during the next few days around June 17 and 18.
