While the normal onset date for Monsoon over Delhi is June 29, there has been a delay of about two days. However, better late than never, Monsoon rains have begun to lash Delhi and the NCR region. The combination of weather systems have been responsible for ushering in Monsoon over the national capital.
The city had been receiving good rains for the past two days. So much so that in just a span of 48 hours, Delhi recorded more than 36 mm of rain. Now that Monsoon has arrived over the city, more rains are expected to lash the national capital.
In fact, during the next 24 to 48 hours, Delhi will receive good Monsoon rains. The intensity will remain light to moderate. However, the possibility of a few heavy spells during this period cannot be ruled out as well.
While the city received a mere 33.5 mm of rain during the month of June, July definitely looks better as good rains have been recorded in the first two days and more rains are likely in the coming days as well.
