A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching North India. At present, it is situated over Northwest Pakistan and adjoining Afghanistan area. It is likely to influence the advance of Southwest Monsoon over parts of North India.

The Western Disturbance will start affecting the western Himalayas and adjoining plains of North India from Tuesday night or early morning hours of the next day.

The deep depression in Northeast and adjoining Eastcentral Arabian Sea is likely to intensify further and move inland, crossing Veraval, after next 24 hours. At present the system is lying just about 100 km south of Veraval in Gujarat. The system will move in an east/northeast direction and affect Gujarat and Rajasthan. We can see a deep trough extending from North to South Pakistan. This trough will connect the Western Disturbance and the depression, bringing good showers over entire North India, Rajasthan, adjoining Madhya Pradesh and west Uttar Pradesh. Initially Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and foothills of Punjab will receive good showers. The rain belt will gradually shift to cover the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.

Good showers over North India during next 48 to 72 hours will be instrumental in further advance of Southwest Monsoon and onset of Monsoon in Delhi and other parts of North India. Widespread rain will continue till June 26.  The Western Disturbance will move by June 27, but remnants of the system will continue to give good showers over Uttarakhand. Rain will reduce significantly over the plains of North India.
