Southwest Monsoon finally reaches Kolkata

It’s here, the much awaited Southwest Monsoon has made an onset over Kolkata. After a long wait, the city of joy is finally bathing in Monsoon rains. The city has been receiving good showers for the past few days.

During the last 24 hours, the capital city of West Bengal has recorded 15 mm of rains. In fact, light rains have been witnessed over the city since morning hours. Also, patchy rains still continue over the city of joy. While the normal onset date over Kolkata is June 10, the onset has been delayed by about a week.

However, now as Monsoon is here, rainfall intensity will increase over Kolkata and its adjoining areas. In fact, good showers will be observed over the city of joy in the coming days. So far, Kolkata has recorded 136.1 mm of rain against its monthly average of 283.5 mm.

With Monsoon making its onset over the city, surpassing the monthly average will not be too difficult. In fact, double digit rains in the coming days will be a common affair. Thus, the residents of Kolkata can finally bathe in Monsoon rains.

Now, weather conditions will also improve, i.e. temperatures will also witness a drop as continuous rains will be observed over the city. Gear up Kolkata, Monsoon rains are coming your way!
