Meanwhile, this time, fairly widespread rainfall activity over many parts of the country including the northern areas resulted in the delay of Southwest Monsoon’s process. However, now signs are appearing for the withdrawal to commence shortly, which will begin from western parts of Rajasthan.
There are several features which are required for the process of withdrawal including the presence of an anti-cyclone, rise in temperatures, reduction in humidity levels, change in wind pattern to northwesterly, minimal clouds and presence of dry weather conditions.
Currently, the anti-cyclone is expected to come up along with which all the other factors will also come into play resulting in the commencement of withdrawal soon. In fact, the process could begin from the extreme western Rajasthan between September 30 and October 1.
Thereafter, Punjab and adjoining Delhi and Haryana could see the withdrawal process around October 10.
Withdrawal of Monsoon does not mean the absence of any weather activity. In fact, westerly systems continue to move which may disrupt the pattern, but rains may remain limited in terms of both spread and intensity.
