During the last 24 hours, the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh has received heavy rain and thundershower activities. In the last 24 hours, Gorakhpur recorded 95 mm rain. Many parts of the east and northeast Madhya Pradesh also recorded moderate rains. A cyclonic circulation is over South East Uttar Pradesh, this will continue to give good rain over many parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
This year, Eastern and Western arms of Monsoon are progressing with a steady pace. Monsoon over Ahmedabad in Gujarat is ahead of its normal date, so as to over Uttar Pradesh.
As of June 15th, India has received 29% excess rainfall. We expect moderate to heavy rains to continue over eastern and central Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. East Uttar Pradesh is rain surplus by 14%. These upcoming rains will certainly increase this rain surplus further.
On the other hand, the Gujarat region is surplus by 139% and Saurashtra and Kutch by 238%.
Rain activities until now in the month of June are highly satisfactory. This will be a boost for the agriculture community and will help in the timely sowing of Kharif crops.
