Until now, monsoon progress is satisfactory almost in the copybook style. Southwest monsoon this year is keeping a date with the normal onset. In fact, in this year Southwest monsoon is ahead of its normal onset dates.
Southwest Monsoon 2020 has covered Bihar, Jharkhand, many parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, today.
The onset of monsoon over Gujarat is well ahead of time. Usually, Monsoon reaches parts of Kutch around June 25th. But it has reached almost 10 days in advance. In Central and East India, it is almost on time or we can say slightly ahead of time by a day or two.
This year, the onset of monsoon was also before time over Kerala. Initial surge to monsoon over the west coast was given by the cyclone Nisarga. In the second week of June, low pressure area over Bengal was instrumental in pushing Monsoon to east and central parts of the country.
Now we expect rain activities to continue with moderate to heavy intensity forward east and Central parts of the country including Gujarat. The weather of Hills, as well as northwest India, will remain almost and try and hot for at least the next 3 to 4 days. Isolated pockets of Rajasthan will experience heatwave conditions also.
