As of today, June 10, the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into remaining parts of Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and some parts of North Interior Karnataka, some more parts of Rayalaseema and south Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Karwar, Gadag and Ongole. Therefore, it is lying just south of Goa. The present spell of heavy shower is indicative of commencement of Southwest Monsoon over South Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.
We expect good rains to continue over these areas and the rain belt could extend up to some more parts of Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra. But, North Coastal Maharashtra, Pune, Mumbai, Dahanu have to wait for some more time for Monsoon rains. Monsoon will possibly cover parts of Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra within next 48 hours.
Conditions are also favorable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Central and North Bay of Bengal and some parts of northeastern states during next 3 to 4 days.
