The trough of low is currently sitting near Lakshadweep islands and adjoining areas of the west coast. This will induce rains over Kerala and parts of south-coastal Karnataka. In addition to this, a feeble low pressure area is also seen over south Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas of Sri Lanka. This weak low pressure area will trigger rain intensity in parts of southern Tamil Nadu.
Places like Pamban, Tiruchchirappalli, Tuticorin, and Ramanathapuram will be affected in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile in Kerala, the low pressure area will influence Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha. Day temperatures in these regions are expected to drop as rain intensifies. Minimums will also take a dip due to elevated rain activity.
The trough over Lakshadweep and Kerala, will continue to affect the region and adjoining areas, for the next 24 to 48 hours. Whereas the weak low pressure area along the coast of Tamil Nadu will become insignificant after a period of 24 hours or so.
