Several parts of South and Central India are expected to witness scattered to light rain during the next 24 hours, bringing relief from the soaring mercury.
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Chhattisgarh and neighbouring areas and a trough from this system is extending up to South Tamil Nadu across Vidarbha, Telangana and interior Karnataka.
The systems coupled together are expected to give rain over Chhattisgarh, parts of Vidarbha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and parts of interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
South India has already recorded rain in several places on account of the weather system. Let us have a look at the rainfall across the region in a span of last 24 hours till 8 am on Sunday.
As per the latest forecast by Skymet, trough is likely to become less marked after 24 hours. As a result, spread and intensity of rain over peninsular India will also reduce. However, parts of South Chhattisgarh and Telangana will continue to receive patchy rainfall for another 48 hours.
With this spell of rain, Vidarbha region of Maharashtra that has been reeling under very hot weather conditions will get some respite from sweltering heat for next two days.
