Some more rains for Surat, Vadodara; Ahmedabad to remain dry

After an elongated dry spell, finally, some light spells occurred over the westernmost state of the country, Gujarat. This was already predicted by Skymet Weather. In the wake of the absence of rains in most parts of the state, the maximums kept on rising and settled above the 42-degree mark in most of the western parts of the state.

However, these rains that occurred on the last day were mainly confined to the southern region of the state and a slight fall in the temperatures were also observed.

Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Tuesday, the districts of South Gujarat such as Mahuva recorded moderate showers to the tune of 57 mm, Surat 3.8 mm, and Vadodara witnessed 0.6 mm of light spells. However, the other regions of the state such as Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kandla, and Rajkot remained dry.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and dry winds are blowing over most parts of Gujarat and adjoining Rajasthan. On account of this, hot weather conditions are expected to continue over Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat. Mainly clear sky with bright sunshine will prevail.

The temperatures across most parts of Gujarat is expected to remain in the range of 37-39 degrees Celsius, while South Gujarat may observe the maximums settling in upper 30’s.

However, the weather of South Gujarat may become partly cloudy to cloudy and light rain at a few places of the southern districts of Gujarat can be anticipated. Thus, the districts such as Surat, Vadodara, and Valsad may record some more light spells.

These rains will be due to the trough that is running from South Gujarat to the west central Arabian Sea where the cyclonic circulation is persisting.
