Some more good rains in store for Kerala and Tamil Nadu

Indian weather is not easily predictable and that can be made out of the fact that after reeling under the intensely hot weather that even resulted in heatwave in most parts of the country, now, most of the states, particularly in South India, are getting drenching rains.

Few districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have witnessed good rains in the last 24 hours as well. The reason for these showers can be attributed to a trough that was running from Telangana up to Comorin area across South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In the wake of this, both Kerala and interior Karnataka witnessed good rains.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, districts of Kerala like Udhamangalam observed hefty rains of 64 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 39.1 mm, and Thrissur witnessed light rains of 9 mm. During the similar time frame, few districts in Tamil Nadu like Coimbatore recorded 53 mm of rains, Coonoor 41.2 mm, and light rains of 6 mm were observed in Tondi.

As per Skymet Weather, as of now, a trough is seen running from South Interior Karnataka to Comorin area across Tamil Nadu. In the wake of this, good rains are expected to continue mostly over interior Karnataka and adjoining Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Isolated heavy showers are also foreseen.

These pre-Monsoon showers are expected to continue for the next 24 hours in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Thereafter, the intensity of rains is likely to reduce while rains will once again pick up the pace from May 6.
