The hills of North India observed a mild December in terms of rain and snow. There was very little weather activity during that time with weather conditions remaining on the less wintry side. So much snow that very little snow was observed.
However, as we moved towards the month of January, a snowy surprise was waiting for the most popular hill stations of North India. Srinagar, Manali, Nainital, Shimla, and Gulmarg observed heavy to very heavy snow.
The month of February also brought in good snowfall. In fact, several avalanches occurred resulting in the death of scores of people including Army men. Snow show continued with some snow even over the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi.
Now, the prevailing Western Disturbance has now moved away from the Western Himalayas. Clear weather conditions have taken over. Now, the frequency of Western Disturbances are likely to reduce during the next few days.
Now, weather conditions have now become clear over the hills of North India. The sun may come up and temperatures will also witness a slight rise. Snowy days will now take a backseat and clear and dry weather conditions will be observed over the hilly states of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
