If you are still one of those who has never seen a snowfall in your entire life, then this is the perfect time to head towards the popular tourist spots in the hills of North India that are anticipating some snowfall activity in the upcoming days.
December is well known for the arrival of on and off Western Disturbances that are attributed to giving rain and snow over the plain as well as hills of North India which is likely to happen soon.

As per Skymet Weather, an active Western Disturbance is likely to approach the Western Himalayan region. An induced cyclonic circulation is likely to form over West Rajasthan which in turn will be responsible for snowfall activity over the higher reaches of the hills of North India including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on December 11 and 12.
Though the chances of snowfall over the lower levels of the hilly terrains in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir are quite bleak. If it happens, it will be an uncommon weather phenomenon as generally the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir gets to see snow during this time of the year.

However, as per Skymet Weather, this has happened in the year 2014 and 2015 when Shimla received snowfall in the month of December while Srinagar witnessed snow in the later parts of January. This time too, the weather system i.e. the Western Disturbance is active and strong and thus chances are that regions like Shimla can witness some snowfall activity. If at all it happened, it will be an early fall of snow, as usual, it is during Christmas or New Year when snow often paints Shimla white.
However, the higher reaches of these hilly states such as Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Kufri, and Srinagar stands a strong chance to witness rain, sleet followed by snow of varying intensity.
