Widespread snow and rain is expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Rain is also expected in Punjab, Haryana, east Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh from tomorrow onwards. Clouds related to the Western Disturbance will start gaining ground in the northwest plains from tomorrow noon while precipitation activity will begin by late evening.
The fresh Western Disturbance is currently hovering over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir while, moving in a eastward direction. There is also a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and Haryana that would keep weather cloudy and rainy in these parts of the country.
The impact of rain and clouds would lessen the difference between night and day temperatures as minimums and maximums will hover around 8 and 16 degrees respectively in the plains. This could intensify the ongoing chill in North India for the next few days.
Temperatures are already below normal by 5 degrees at some of the places in the northwest plains as cold day conditions were observed in the region yesterday. The lowest day temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Alipur on Wednesday morning.
Frequent weather systems such as cyclonic circulations and Western Disturbances have left a fair amount of moisture which with the help of low minimum temperatures and slow winds, is keeping conditions favourable for the formation of fog that is being witnessed at the moment in North India.
