Since the start of January, all the major popular destinations of the North India have been witnessing continuous spell of snowfall. From the looks of it, more is in store for some of the popular hill stations. At present, a fresh western disturbance has approached Jammu & Kashmir and already light rain and snow has commenced over many parts of the state.

This snowfall will intensify by tomorrow and simultaneously another western disturbance which is at present over Northeast Pakistan and Afghanistan will approach Jammu and Kashmir.

This system will give good rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh by January 25.

These two western disturbances will continue to affect most of the hills of North India till January 27. Heavy to extremely heavy snowfall is possible over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

These upcoming western disturbances may bring the heaviest snow spell over the region. With such heavy snowfall over the region, the Jammu-Srinagar highway is very much likely to be inaccessible around January 26-27.

Chances of avalanche are also possible so tourists and residents are requested to take precautionary measures and not venture out in the open.
