The holiday season is upon us and it’s the perfect time to start planning vacations. And what would be great than the snow clad mountains, fresh snowflakes and bone-chilling winter to ring in the New Year? Popular hill stations of North India are all ready to be decked up in the crisp white façade so you can welcome 2016 away from the grey of metropolitan cities.

New Year's Eve will be a chilly one for much of North India, even in places that typically pop champagne on the big night in balmy temperatures.

A fresh Western Disturbance is slated to start affecting weather of hills of North India on 31st December and give snowfall over parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Manali, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar will receive snowfall on 31st December with possible snowfall on 1st January. Shimla is likely to receive rain on the New Year’s Eve owing to this Western Disturbance.

Several of these places will witness minimum temperature go below zero degrees, leading to the spine chilling cold weather for the locals and tourists visiting these places for yearend holidays. Various snow sport activities and special New Year parties being organized in hill stations in order to welcome the New Year are expected to increase the celebration amidst the snow shower expected.
