The fresh spell of rain and snow has finally commenced over the hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. All thanks to the fresh Western Disturbance, which has started affecting the Western Himalayas.

As we progress further, both the intensity and spread of rains and snow will increase over the region. The rain belt will soon cover most parts of both the states along with parts of Uttarakhand.

According to Skymet Weather, we can now expect moderate to heavy snowfall of the hilly region of North India. Some places may record very heavy snowfall as well.

Snowfall will once again blanket all the famous tourist destinations like Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Kullu, Manali, Shimla, and Mussoorie.

The ongoing spell is likely to continue for another 48 hours. In wake of this, maximum temperatures have dropped significantly over the region. The mercury is likely to plunge further during the next 24 hours.

Weathermen has also issued avalanche alert for some areas of these states. Several highways and roads are likely to be shut down.
