A fresh Western Disturbance would be soon approaching the state of Jammu and Kashmir and is presently lying over North Pakistan and adjoining areas as an upper air-system. An induced Cyclonic Circulation has formed over South Pakistan and over the adjoining area of Rajasthan. Clouding will gradually increase over most parts of both the duo-states of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
Rain and snowfall may commence over Jammu and Kashmir from today evening over the higher reaches and is likely to increase gradually. Light to moderate snow is expected during the next 48 hours in many parts over the hills. Rain and thundershower activities will also be witnessed over the southern parts of the state.
North Himachal Pradesh will also witness rain and snowfall, which is likely to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours. Minimum temperatures will rise while significant drop in day temperatures is likely over the region. Thereafter, a cold condition is soon likely to develop.
Uttarakhand may remain mainly dry for the next 24 hours and thereafter will witness precipitation and rain after 24 hours.
During the last 24 hours, weather remained mainly dry. Fog was observed in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with sunny days over the cities like Dehradun, Shimla, Mussoorie and Nainital.
Tourists who are planning to visit hills might get lucky as fresh snowfall is just around the weekend.
