Similarly, during the past day, hilly states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand witness light to moderate with isolated heavy rain and snowfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Dharamsala recorded rain to the tune of 4 mm, Una, Gulmarg and Manali 3 mm, Srinagar 1 mm, Jammu 0.5 mm, Banihal and Qazigund 0.4 mm rain.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance prevailing over Jammu and Kashmir. However, this weather system is now moving away eastwards.

Although another Western Disturbance is approaching the Western Himalayas which is currently prevailing over Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan region.

In wake of it, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will continue receiving light to moderate rain and snowfall activity. In fact, isolated places of Uttarakhand are also expected to record rain and light snowfall activity.

All tourist hills stations such as Gulmarg, Srinagar, Kufri, Pahalgam, Leh, Manali, Kullu, Quazigund, Shimla, Rohtang Pass, Auli, and Dhanaulti will record weather activity. In fact, Vaishno Devi may also witness light rain.

As per weathermen, good rain and snowfall activity are anticipated to continue over the above-mentioned regions until February 25. Thereafter the intensity will reduce and gradually the weather will clear up.

Due to these weather activities, there are chances of landslides and mudslides over the region. Hence, the Jammu Srinagar highway might get blocked. Hence, the tourists heading during the weekend should be well checked with the routes.

The day and night temperatures have already taken a slight dip. Therefore, the weather during the day is cool and nights are chilly. These weather conditions will continue to prevail.

The chances of avalanches increase after heavy snowfall activity. Hence, the skiers are advised to take precautions before heading out.
