The hills of North India have enjoyed a good season of snowfall this winter. While the first few days were not that great for the region with the weather remaining comparatively less cold and dry, the months of January and February brought good amounts of rain as well as snow.
In fact, several popular hill stations including Shimla, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Nainital, Manali, and several others witnessed good snow show. In fact, a snowy Christmas and New Year were also in store for several of these places. Avalanches were also recorded during the months of January as well as February.
The month of March was also not bad for the hills as back to back Western Disturbances kept bringing good rains and isolated snow during the first few days. In fact, the frequency of these systems was a little more than it usually is in March.
Now, the frequency of these disturbances is likely to reduce significantly. While there is a possibility of a few systems affecting the extremely higher reaches, the other parts of the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will become clear.
Not only this, temperatures will also witness a rise over the hills of North India due to the absence of these weather systems. The residents will enjoy clear days and sunny sky conditions. Nights will remain slightly cold. However, now it is safe to say that winters have bid adieu.
