Smog conditions will get better in northwest and Indo-Gangetic plains during the next two days. But they will again come back from Wednesday to last till Friday. Change in wind conditions from easterly to westerly-northwesterly has reduced the moisture levels in the atmosphere due to which smog will be less dense during the night for the next two days. Industrial areas of Delhi, Kanpur and Ludhiana will experience dense smog from Wednesday onwards.
Winds will again change from Saturday onwards to become northwesterly. They will be slow and heavy due to which the pollution created by firecrackers during Diwali will not be able to escape into the atmosphere making Monday morning smoggier.
Night temperatures in northwest plains will fall as the feeble Western Disturbance (WD) over Jammu & Kashmir will move eastwards to give way to northwesterly winds in the region.
Delhi will experience a cool night on Tuesday with minimum dipping to 15.5 degree Celsius. However, the temperature will again start increasing from Thursday onwards due to the approach of a weak WD. Delhi recorded 16.8 degrees as minimum temperature on Monday.
