Delhiites woke up to the intense layer of deadly smog for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, leading to almost nil visibility across the city and its adjoining regions of Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.

The chief attribution to this perilous smog comes from the mass burning of crop stubble in the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana. Moreover, present weather conditions are further worsening the conditions. According to Skymet Weather, northwesterly winds are blowing over the national capital that is bringing these pollutants towards the national capital.

At present, the breathing air has become a matter of concern to such an extent that the Indian Medical Association has declared a state of health emergency in Delhi and the NCR region. The prevalent weather scenario is not expected to improve for at least the next few days. This impenetrable layer of smog will continue over the region making the air unbreathable.
