Delhiites simply love winters and when even a sign of winter tries to seek shade, Delhi welcomes it with open arms. However, this time, there is a twist in the books of Delhi’s winter tale and Delhi smog has been acting as the antagonist in the happily ever after of Delhi winters.

Delhi Smog has been wreaking havoc over the city and all that us residents can do is wait for the weather conditions to become slightly better. The air that we are currently breathing is so unbreathable that the Indian Medical Association has declared a state of health emergency in the national capital.

So much so that after IMA’s advice, the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia yesterday declared that primary schools will remain closed.

Morning assemblies and other outdoor activities for children have also been asked to be put to a halt until the air quality increases. Morning walks for elderlies are also not advisable as the pollution affects children and the elderly more than anyone else.

The Air Quality at present is severe across the national capital and the NCR region today. The PM 2.5 levels have been crossing the 500 mark in many places. In fact, in a few areas, the levels have even surpassed 600.

Similarly, PM 10 levels have also been sky high with most areas witnessing the figures above 600 making the air quality hazardous.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these weather conditions are expected to persist for a few more days as conducive factors have been causing the smog to settle in for long.
