After hail and rain the weather has improved in most parts of North India. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the Western Disturbance in Jammu and Kashmir is clearing up, while the induced system responsible for the inclement weather has moved away leading to clear skies and bright sunshine in the region.
However, the temperatures will take one week before they return to their normal levels as they are settling way below the average. For example the national capital Delhi recorded 19.9°C as the day temperature on Sunday which is 9 degrees below the normal. Similarly on Monday, under clear skies the maximum settled at 26.6°C, which is still 3 degrees below normal. The temperatures are expected to rise gradually and therefore north India will witness pleasant weather conditions for at least one week.
Another spell of rain is likely by the end of the month, which may spill over to April. But before that the skies will be clear and pleasant conditions are expected.
Abnormal March weather
March has otherwise been a very abnormal month for North India in terms of Weather. Looking at the data available with Skymet, more than normal spells of rain and hailstorms have been witnessed so far. All the spells have been intense and widespread, covering entire North India and parts of Central India. This also led to major changes in the day temperatures. At a time when the maximum should be hovering around 30 degrees Celsius at many places, the day temperatures were settling in the low twenties.
Rajasthan was the worst hit in the recent spell of rain (March 15- March 16) as the activity in the state was intense and prolonged.
